Tharp runs 110m hurdles world record

London [UK], June 12: American Ja'Kobe Tharp has run a stunning 110 metres hurdles world record by clocking 12.75 seconds. Tharp, 20, achieved the feat on Wednesday night at the NCAA Championships in Eugene. He took five-hundredths of a second off the previous mark of 12.80 from compatriot Aries Merritt in 2012, as he improved his personal best by .26 of a second. Even more remarkably, Tharp got the record in his heat. The final is scheduled for Friday. Tharp is the national champion and came sixth at last year's world championships in Tokyo. He is unbeaten this year indoors and outdoors, including heats.
