Ukrainian drones disrupt air traffic over Russia
Jul 07, 2025

Moscow [Russia], July 7: Ukrainian drones caused severe disruptions to Russian air traffic on Sunday, forcing authorities to suspend flights at several major airports.
Flights were temporarily halted at Moscow's largest airport, Sheremetyevo, as well as at Pulkovo Airport near St Petersburg, the state news agency TASS reported.
Air traffic was also suspended near the city of Kirov, about 800 kilometres north-east of Moscow.
Six Ukrainian drones were shot down as they approached the Russian capital, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.
In Kaluga, south-west of Moscow, seven drones were destroyed, according to official statements, while air defences hit two drones near St Petersburg.
Russia did not give information about any damage
or other impact from the drones.
Ukraine has been defending itself against Russia's full-scale invasion for more than three years.
As part of its strategy, it frequently targets Russian territory, but the damage caused by Ukrainian drones is dwarfed by the devastation inflicted by Russian drones and missiles in Ukraine.
